Early Intervention Matters!
It might be scary or even hard to think that your child is not communicating or playing the same way other children their age are. It might seem best and easiest to just "wait and see," especially if you have other parents and family members telling you "that's what I did for my child and it worked!" Well, I can promise you one thing even though it may have "worked" for their child, the results could have been so much better if intervention was sought out. The thing is, intervention simply can not hurt. Even if you have just a few questions or you are not even sure if there is a concern... our job as Speech Language Pathologists is to not only teach children to communicate but to educate parents. Research has also shown that the earlier children begin services this helps them achieve their goals even quicker. I have attached below a quick guide to signs of a communication delay in toddlers.
If you have any concerns or questions about your child's speech and language skills please do not hesitate to reach out!
